Had a go at the 'Mach 1' trail after picking up a free map from the nice chaps at Greenstiles Cycles.

I thought this trail was meant to be 'easy'! No. But it was good fun. The first bit along the busy A470 wasn't so good, and neither was stopping so many times to open so many gates. Neither was missing the signposts 2/3rds the way around and losing the trail.

That said, the scenery was nothing short of stunning. I saw no-one from leaving the main road to getting back to Machynlleth. It was far better than the riding I did in Luxembourg, and a really enjoyable couple of hours. Lots of 'ills though, ended up pushing the bike up quite a bit.

But if this was 'Mach 1', I dread to think what 2&3 are like!

Please with the 10mile time of 2hrs, not bad for a beginner.
